The Mayday Journey is a free interactive tool for members of The Prince’s Mayday Network which calculates a business’s impact on the environment, and provides strategies for reducing that impact. The Mayday Journey is being updated to reflect the new focus of The Prince’s Mayday Network campaign (and other related environment campaigns at BITC). As at 1 May 2012, The Prince’s Mayday Network members will still be able to access the Mayday Journey when logged in to the Mayday site, but it will no longer be available externally. The updated Mayday Journey will be re-launched in late 2012.
‘Report back’ is the process by which The Prince’s Mayday Network members report on how they have reduced their environmental impacts during the course of a year. We are changing how we do this going forward. Our initial Mayday ambition was to encourage businesses of all sizes to start measuring and reporting your carbon emissions. Apart from the smallest businesses most Mayday Network members are now doing this in a number of different ways. For the past two years we have been working closely with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the global leader in this space. As of this year we will be asking all but the smallest businesses, who tell us they still need our simplified tools and support, to report through the CDP. We will then work with the team at CDP and other partners including our sister Prince’s Charity, Accounting for Sustainability, over the coming year to work out what the most useful and joined up reporting ask to our member businesses and the wider Mayday Network should be. We will announce the revised report back process in early 2013.
