    Why should I attend?

Commemorated on 5 June since 1972, World Environment Day (WED) is aimed to be the biggest, most widely celebrated, global day for positive, environmental action. It is one of the principal vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action. The theme for this year’s WED is biodiversity but any kind of environmentally focus activity is encouraged. Business in the Community encourages businesses to use this day to highlight its positive environment action to employees, suppliers and customers as well as to use it as a day to launch new environment projects. Some examples of what your business can do are listed below. These suggestions include free resources, links to partner support organisations and case studies from other companies. We also ask if your company can record and activity it participates in for WED in the official website.

Every activity registered earns a donation of USD10 to the Take a Stand for the Gorillas WED legacy initiative. The donation will contribute to the conservation of the endangered gorillas in Rwanda, this year's global WED host country
