Big Tick Award - Leap Media Ltd, design for change continuing environmental leadership

Introduction

2010 is an important year in the development of Leap as an environmental leader in the South West. The huge effort and investment made in the company’s ISO-14001 accreditation requires a substantial effort to retain year on year. Despite the recession, Leap has continued to promote the use of recycled paper and the use of 100% renewable electricity.

Leap still believes that design should (and needs to) be at the heart of any sustainable future imaginable. Every paper product that Leap uses is scrutinised before its use; ensuring that its creation is as efficient as possible and pays close attention to what happens once it comes to the end of its useful life.

Process

What and How:

Leap’s web business increased by over 70% last year and with the IT industry’s emissions overtaking that of global aviation last year, Leap will continue to look at the impact of its digital work.

Leap’s continued involvement with organisations such as the Green Tourism Business Scheme, the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project and Clean Cornwall speak volumes about the company’s commitment to improving the sustainability of our collective future.
