Eat Seasonably celebrates fruit and vegetables when they’re at their best. They work with partners across the food industry to raise awareness of what’s in season when and help people enjoy fruit and veg in its prime: fresher, tastier, cheaper and better for the environment.
The campaign launched last year, reaching over 14 million people, encouraging them to follow their simple calendar of monthly fruit & veg heroes.
Supermarkets have a key role as most people buy their fruit and veg at the supermarket. Some of the major retailers (including leading Mayday companies such as M&S and Sainsburys) were involved in the campaign at launch last year and have helped to make a significant improvement in the way they have progressed the issue of seasonality. There is still a lot more work to be done so this year Eat Seasonably is working closely with a small number of retailers, pubs, restaurants, cafes to find new ways to encourage and enable people to eat more seasonal fruit and veg.
This year the team at Eat Seasonably are aiming to reach even more people through a growing network of passionate food services – restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops and market traders - who are joining them in inspiring their customers to eat seasonably.
